Amy Coe is a famous nursery designer. She started her career in design in 1983, when she shifted to New York City from Hollywood, Florida. She designed throw pillows that were sold in various boutiques in New York. Then, she turned her focus to vintage textiles, which brought her great dividends. The 'nostalgic' fabrics that she began to use were similar to those used between the thirties and the fifties. Marriage and motherhood inspired her career and shortly after her daughter Olivia was born in 1992, she began designing baby bedding. Soon, Coe started designing rare patterns on cotton fabrics to diversify into baby linens as well. These linens made her popular in the baby bedding market, and soon she was creating vintage yet sophisticated nurseries. Her work attracted various specialty and department stores. Retailers helped in the development of her exclusive work in fabrics, textures, and palettes. Various catalogs also started including her designs. Amy Coe, Inc. was finally established in 1993, with Amy as the President as well as Chief Operating Officer. Amy has set up her studio at South Norwalk, Connecticut. In January 2003, The Amy Coe Limited Edition was introduced by Target Corporation, highlighting Coe's all-embracing style. This is a special mix and match collection that now has new toy designs, layettes, and nurseries. Renowned celebrities such as Sarah Jessica Parker own nurseries designed by Coe. The designer has built her reputation on the fact that she has made her hobby in baby bedding a brand name. Amy Coe now also includes a line of adult linens. |
