A backhoe attachment can be a valuable tool on a ranch or a farm. This piece of equipment can also prove useful in various construction or digging projects. Mountable on a tractor, a backhoe attachment is considered by many to be one of the most useful accessories available today. Some professionals even say this type of attachment is a must-have for a wide range of applications. The opposite of a front loader, a backhoe is designed primarily for applications involving digging below ground level. Such applications may require the digging of trenches and removal of tree stumps. Backhoes are even well suited to planting trees. Typically powered by hydraulics, backhoes are usually mounted on the backs of tractors. They are frequently used in conjunction with front loaders. There are even attachments of similar design made for use with ski loaders. This type of attachment is mounted to the front of a ski loader, rather than the back. However, it is still called a backhoe. An excavator may also be considered a backhoe attachment when it is mounted to the swiveling cab that is positioned on top of tracks. Though undeniably useful, backhoe attachments can be quite expensive. In fact, they are one of the most costly attachments for tractors on the market. Because these attachments can be budget-busting, many people choose to purchase them used. Quite often, used equipment can be found in reasonably good condition, allowing the user to employ it in the same fashion as new equipment, at a fraction of the the cost. |
