Winter brings along holidays, celebrations and the snow. Accompanying the goodness of the fall, is also the painstaking task, of shoveling away the snow that has accumulated all over the vehicle and driveway. Shoveling the entire place is not just tedious, but also extremely time-consuming. Easing this tedious job is the snow-thrower, which is used to remove snow from areas where it is not wanted A snow-thrower (also known as snow-blower), is a mechanical substitute for the hand shovel. It makes the task of clearing the snow, far easier and quicker. A snow-blower is either operated on electricity, or works on a gasoline or diesel engine. The snow-blower does not simply push the snow to a side, but actually removes the snow; which can later be discarded on to a truck or dumped elsewhere. Small blowers have the capacity to remove only light snow, a few inches deep. But big blowers can clear snow as deep as 6 feet and clear driveways up to 10 feet wide. Snow thrower can either have a 'single stage thrower' or 'double stage thrower' technology. Usually, a single stage thrower is extremely lightweight, and both the suction and dispelling of snow, is done by a single high-speed impeller. In the case of a double stage thrower, the impeller sucks in the snow and an auger dispels the snow. Both the single-stage and double-stage thrower has an exhaust pipe called the discharge chute, from where the snow is dispelled out. A snow-thrower user must be well aware of the safety measures to be taken while, using the equipment. A good quality snow-thrower can last for many years. |
