Postal scales are a great way to increase mailing efficiency and at the same time reduce the time spent waiting in line at the post office. Two types of postal scales are available, a manual scale and a digital scale. A manual scale uses a spring to weigh the packages. After the packages have been weighed, mailers well need to refer to a table of current postage prices to identify how much postage needs to be used. Digital postal scales are more accurate than manual scales and include preprogrammed postal rate information. Postal scales are available depending on the various sizes of packages. For oversized packages, a large weighing platform with a weight capacity of more than 2lbs. will be required. A smaller postal platform will be essential for smaller packages and envelopes. Some scales have a built-in postage rate comparison feature that identifies First Class, Priority Mail, and Parcel Post rates. Several postal scales can even provide fares and other options for FedEx and UPS. Numerous scales have a feature in which the weight of the content and the weight of the container can be identified separately. More advanced scales can connect to a personal postage meter. Once the weight of both the content and the container is determined, the postage meter will print out the stamp. To keep track of exact money spent on mailing, postal scales can also be password protected to prevent unauthorized usage. Easy to maintain and simple to use, postal scales make the process of mailing painless, especially for frequent mailers.
