Canon Rebel Lens

One of the great advantages of owning a Canon Rebel or Canon Rebel XT digital camera is that you can equip your unit with over 50 different kinds of lenses. Pro photographers and home users alike can easily adjust the scopes of their Canon Rebels and Rebel XTs in a myriad of ways. However, if you're a neophyte, you should review the differences among the lens types to avoid paying hundreds of dollars for unnecessary components.Your Digital Rebel may come standard with an EF-S 18 by 55 mm lens. This is a relatively good model for most shots, and the image stabilization (IS) feature enables you to take pictures without interference from minor tremors or shakes. Gyroscopes in the lens itself impart this stabilization, so that the shaking of your hands or the wind, for instance, won't obscure or blur your image.Of course, you may want to supplement this standard lens with add-ons. There are basically two types of lenses you can get--zoom lenses and prime lenses. Zoom lenses allow you to change focal lengths, by dint of moving a ring or a slide. Prime lenses are fixed in length and bulkier, although they generally prevent distortion better than Canon zoom lenses.The Canon Rebel and its successor, the Canon Rebel XT, both can take decently focused snapshot pictures without the need for additional lenses. That said, if you are adapting the Rebel for portraiture or advanced nature photography, it may behoove you to scan Canon's lens catalog. A high-quality Macro lens, for instance, can give you a keen, un-shadowed image of extremely small, fast-moving objects, like a launching dragonfly.
