Alltel is a telecommunications organization with headquarters at Riverdale, Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a leading telecommunications company in the United Stated, providing wireless services to customers, businesses as well as residential customers across 36 states.
In 1943, Charles Miller and Hugh Willbourn Jr. started a small business called the Allied Telephone Company that specialized in installing telephone poles and wires for various telephone companies spread across Arkansas. Alltel's recent history starts in 1983, after Allied Telephones and Mid-Continent Telephone that was founded by two brothers, Weldon W. Case and Nelson H., merged together in 1985. The Alltel Telecommunications Company has lately launched two services namely 'My Circle' and 'U Prepaid'. On January 30, 2005 Alltel introduced a prepaid service called 'U Prepaid'. The plan has three options that customers can choose from: pay-per-minute, pay-per-day, or pay-per-month. The pay-per-month plan offers the most features includeing 700 minutes of talk-time, unlimited nights and weekends that start at 9:00 pm, 10 cents per additional minute, unlimited text messaging, and unlimited mobile to mobile.
'My Circle' was launched on April 21, 2006; it is a free and optional feature that subscribers to the National/Greater Freedom calling plan can utilize. After opting for a certain plan, the user opts for a maximum ten numbers on the U.S network that they can call without paying any additional charges.
