About Nokia 2126

The origins of the Nokia company date back to 1865, with the establishment of a forest industry enterprise in Finland by Fredrick Idestam, a mining engineer. In 1898, Finnish Rubber Works was founded, and in 1912, Finnish Cable Works was established. In 1967, the three companies were merged to form the Nokia Corporation. By the late 1980s, Nokia became the world's second largest IT Company. Today, it is the world's biggest mobile phone manufacturer for all protocols, such as GSM, CDMA, and W-CDMA. In addition, it is the largest Finnish company, holding about half of the market capitalization of the Helsinki Stock Exchange. Nokia also produces network equipment in telecommunications for applications such as mobile and fixed-line telephony, ISDN, broadband, VoIP, and wireless LAN. The Nokia 2126 has a candy-bar design with a 95 x 65 color display and an internal antenna. It comes with a centre toggle on the control pad to control the phone's features and menus. It can store up to 200 contacts, has 34 built-in ring tones and 5 empty slots so that one can download more ring tones. The phone comes with many software tools such as alarm, calculator, and three built-in games. It weighs 3.1 ounces and measures 4.03 x 1.66 x .85 inches. The 2126 has a lithium-ion battery which gives 3.5 hours of continuous digital talk-time, and up to 10 days of stand-by time. The phone runs on the CDMA 1900 frequency. Nokia first made mobile phones for the Finnish Defence forces, for force field radios, in 1972. In 1987, it made the world's first NMT phone: The Nokia Cityman. The mobile manufacturer played a major role in developing the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM). The world's first GSM call was made by the Prime Minister of Finland, Harri Holkeri, at Helsinki, in 1991. He made the call over a Nokia-supplied network, using a Nokia phone.
