Motorola is an American international communications company based in Schaumburg, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. Motorola started as Galvin Manufacturing Corporation in 1928. The name Motorola was adopted in 1947, but the word had been used as a trademark since the 1930s. The Mobile Devices division (MD) has been the largest revenue earner for Motorola. As of July 2006, Motorola was number two in the global mobile market behind Nokia, with a 22% market share to Nokia's 33%. The Motorola RAZR ('RAZR' pronounced 'razor') is a thin clamshell camera phone which is only 13.9mm thick. The phone features an internal antenna which is located at the base below the mouthpiece. The construction of the phone does not feature much use of plastic; rather a mixture of many alloys is used. The alloys used are space alloys which are characterized by their lightness and durability. This results in the phone weighing less than 100g. The keypad is rather a touchpad and the keys have a light-blue backlight (electroluminescent). The phone features an external color display which supports a resolution of 98x64 pixels and supports 4096 colors. Up to 3 text lines can be contained on this screen. The internal screen of the phone is 2.2', when measured diagonally, LCD screen which supports 262,000 colors. The internal screen has a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels. The phone has 5.5MB of internal memory capacity which can be upgraded to 10MB by 'modding' the phone. The phone features a 0.3 mega pixel camera with a 4x zoom. The phone features external side keys for volume control. Razor V3 has a built-in speaker phone. It supports Bluetooth and MPEG4 video playback. According to Motorola, the phone has a battery that is capable of providing back up of up to 200 hours in the standby mode and up to 3 hours in the talk mode. The phone is available in blue, silver, black and pink colors. A gold colored version also exists, but is rare. |
