In 1996, three former Australian professional skateboarders founded Globe. These skate boarders, Matt, Steven, and Peter Hill, are brothers. The brothers started out selling skateboards and apparel with a company called Hard Core International before going on to create their own shoes and label. Globe is credited with being the first company to create cushioning in shoes by using air. The main headquarters for Globe's North American operation is in El Segundo, California. For South America, it is in Melbourne, Australia. Globe shoes, however, are manufactured in China and Korea. Globe shoes are available for men, women, and children. The size range is from five to 16 for men. From size 13 to 16, only whole sizes are available. Women's sizes range from four to 11. For children, Globe offers whole sizes only, ranging from sizes one to six. Globe shoes are reputed to offer comfort and quality construction. They are available in numerous different colors and styles. Not only are these shoes popular around the world, but they are also worn by many professional skateboarders. In fact, Globe's shoe line has been linked with such well-known skateboarding names as Chet Thomas, Taj Burrow, and Rodney Mullen. In addition to skateboard shoes, Globe is known for offering skateboard apparel and sponsoring a variety of athletes in surfing and skateboarding. The company also sponsors world-class athletes in motocross and snowboarding as well. |
