Michael Kors is a world-renowned designer and fashion visionary who began his career at the ripe age of 19 in New York City at a well-respected fashion house called Lothar's. Kors built on the training he received at Lothar's and at the Fashion Institute of Technology to hone his own style. In 1981, he broke out on his own and developed designs for women's luxury sportswear.

Saks Fifth Avenue and many other luxury stores and retailers quickly caught on to the Michael Kors trend. From the very beginning of his career, Kors focused on the highest caliber, most sophisticated clothing he could imagine. His hard work and dedication paid off. In 1999, the Council of Fashion Designers of American announced Michael Kors as the Womenswear Designer of the Year.

Success inspired Kors to venture out into other fashion waters. In 1997, he began to issue a few articles on menswear. He expanded his men's collection in 2002 and generated rave reviews from the fashion polity. The Council of Fashion Designers of America once again enjoyed his work and named him the Menswear Designer of the Year for 2003.

In 2004, Kors launched a national collection which included leather goods, tailored outfits, sportswear, handbags, watches, ties, and shirts. He has also seen great success with his fragrances. His eponymous women's fragrance has been incredibly popular since it was released in 2000. Michael Kors has also won numerous celebrity admirers, including Angelica Houston, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sharon Stone, Madonna, Jennifer Lopez and Rene Russo.
