Rocket Dog, a footwear manufacturer located in California was founded by Stephen Hoyt and Terry Anderson in 1997 and was an immediate success in San Francisco, South Beach and L.A. Their first cork bottom and jute upper sandal was a hit that season, creating something of a snowball effect. The company later went on to produce street and surf footwear. In 1999, they collaborated with New York Transit, Inc, a footwear distributor, to expand their market. New York Transit, Inc. also owns the footwear license for other brands like Bisou-Bisou and Max Studio. Calling themselves the 'Breeders', their footwear is made of a special compound called E.V.A., first used in an all-rubber sandal called 'Horny Corner' which was named after a surfing spot for girls on Huntington Beach. Their products are aimed at a new generation of freethinkers and their collections include sandals, casual shoes, sneakers and boots with names like Mai-Tai, Gem, Hoodlum, Holster, Zippie, J-Rox, Blush and Pasha. Celebrities like Demi Moore and Paris Hilton are known to sport Rocket Dog gear. Rocket Dog is based in L.A. and its products can be found around the States in department and specialty stores. Their European branch caters to countries like Britain, Ireland, Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece and other countries like Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South America and Venezuela. |
