About Achilles Costume
Achilles is a mythological Greek warrior, who fought in the famous Trojan War. This strong and brave hero was invulnerable except at the heel. He acquired this invulnerability when he was dipped by his mother into the River Styx. Achilles captured nearly a dozen cities during the battle of Troy, before quarrelling with Agamemnon. He returned to the battlefield after his cousin Patroclus, was slain by Hector. Achilles killed the enemy in revenge, and dragged the corpse around Troy. The Greek poet Homer refers to his funeral without providing the details about his death. Arctinus, another poet, claims that he was killed by an arrow shot by Paris, and which was steered by Apollo. Aeschylus, the famous Greek dramatist, wrote three tragedies dealing with the adventures of Achilles during the Trojan War. Several other plays and movies have been made, which relate to the life of this legendary Greek hero. On May 14, 2004, a popular movie 'Troy' was released dealing with the Trojan War. In this movie, Brad Pitt plays the role of Achilles. The costumes in this film were well designed, and Achilles (Brad Pitt) looked majestic in his outfits. This film was nominated for an Oscar award exclusively for the costume design. There are several types of Achilles costumes available, some of which are designed specifically for children, while the rest are for adult men. They are usually manufactured in a Greco-Roman style bearing a close resemblance to the outfits worn by the actors playing the role of Achilles in the various plays and movies.
