Established in 1986 by Bill Mann and a business partner, Airwalk shoes were at the pinnacle of their trade in the late 1980s and early 1990s. Airwalk shoes are known to have sponsored the cream of boardsport champs Jason Lee and Tony Hawk. Currently, they sponsor athletes such as professional skateboarder Andy Macdon, professional surfer Josh Mohr, professional snow boarder Zach Leach, and professional surfer, model and actress Neva Massey. Today their shoes are sold at outlets located in the US and Canada but most of their outlets are located in the UK. Grungy, contemporary, unique, and completely authentic in terms of design, the current Airwalk collection maintains a sense of individualism. Their new collection is a blend of 'boardsport' culture and cool, hip and urban styling with heavy influence from New York street style. Examples of the above style include is the 'Canvas Hi Custom'; this limited edition shoe is a typical; street styled canvas hi top. A rare piece, this bright green shoe is a colorful rendition of New York's contrasting population. Another example is the girl's 'Automatic Print', a girlie yet punk styled shoe with asymmetric screen print; durable canvas upper and comfortable vulcanized slip-on construction. Apart from canvas shoes, Airwalk also offers Wallabe leather and Wallabe suede shoes featuring tumble leather upper and footbed, molded non-slip rubber outsole, and a comfortable padded collar. Airwalk's 'Fisherman' sandal has adjustable straps for optimum fitting. Their Prototype 600 is a custom re-issued shoe.
