Amy began her career as a small time business woman whilst living in Kansas City, in the late 1980s. She started by making small passport sized bags, which she really enjoyed. The bags were sold to small boutiques and shops around the country these stores were hand-picked by Amy, which she loved going to and making personal introductions.
Amy moved back to her home town Ohio with her husband David in 1992 and started their own studio 'Art of the Midwest'. She simultaneously worked for Country Living Magazine as an editor. She started making surface designs for one of her friends who was a design rep in the industry, whilst working with her friend, Amy thought of getting back to her old days of making bags. Amy then decided to start her own sewing pattern business. She believes that her business is just an awesome medium for her to share her work and also meet other artist. Amy finds her inspiration in, 'her surroundings, her family, nature and the rich textures of everyday life.' She doesn't follow trends and detaches herself from cultural influences; she designs all her works from a very intimate point of view. She makes use of vintage fabrics in all of her work and loves visiting flea markets and visiting foreign countries so as to find inspiration through their lifestyles.
Amy has three basic fabric design categories 'Belle', 'Forest', and 'Sunbloom'. 'Belle' is quilting and fashion decor fabric whereas 'Forest' and 'Sunbloom' are designed for home and life d'©cor.
