Army surplus products are pieces of clothing, tools, or weapons originally built for use by the Army, that are no longer needed for that purpose. They are resold to the general public online and in army surplus stores across the United States. Army surplus products are popular both as collector's items and as striking fashion or decorative statements. Although army surplus clothing is the most popular, a number of other army surplus products exist. Army surplus goggles (including night vision), sunglasses, binoculars, duffle bags, alarms, locks, camouflage kits, paintball equipment, flashlights, pocket knives, compasses, watches, and camping gear are all widely purchased. Army surplus tools tend to be well-made and durable, since they are designed to meet the rigorous standards of the U.S. Army. For serious outdoor adventurers, this adds greatly to their appeal. Army surplus clothing continues to be the biggest draw, however. Everything from standard-issue fatigues to leather jackets to hunting vests can be found from army surplus suppliers. Although the camouflage coloring scheme is the most identifiable, army surplus clothing is made in a variety of colors. Black, olive green, tan, brown, and gray are the most common color choices. Like the tools, army surplus clothing tends to be well-made and built to last. The biggest seller of army surplus products in the world is Liquidity Services, Inc., which runs two major subsidiaries: Government Liquidation, LLC, and Liquidity Services Ltd. Government Liquidation buys and resells army surplus materials under contract with the U.S. Department of Defense. Liquidity Services Ltd. does the same for the UK Ministry of Defence. |
