Born on 10 August, 1942, in Wethersfield, Connecticut, Betsey Johnson is a well-known fashion designer and is famous for her feminine and fancy dresses. She is also known for ending her fashion shows with a somersault. Betsey Johnson's career as a fashion designer, initiated when she entered and won the Mademoiselle Guest Editor Contest. In a years time she became the in-house designer for the Manhattan boutique in Paraphernalia. Since the 1960s, Betsey Johnson has been popular in the fashion industry, with her creative and one-of-a-kind designs. In 1978, Betsey formed a partnership with Chantal Bacon, and started the Betsey Johnson label. Betsey Johnson designs clothes come in bright as well as mellow colors, and look feminine and classy. She also uses a lot of hippie inspired flowing fabrics for her clothes. Her dresses come with fancy detailing and fit fabulously. Betsey Johnson offers day and evening wear dresses such as strapless dresses, belted dresses, halter dresses, printed dresses, linen dresses, cocktail dresses, dresses with floral designs, etc that look elegant. Their line of clothes also includes tops and skirts, swimwear, intimate wear etc. Dresses designed by Betsey Johnson for the Fall collection 2005, Spring collection 2006, and Fall collection 2006, can brighten up the wearer and accentuate the wearer's beauty and uniqueness. Betsey also designs accessories such as handbags, sunglasses, shoes, hats, scarves, and watches. At present, there are more then forty Betsey Johnson stores globally. In May 2006, Betsey Johnson was awarded with the 'Designer of the Year Award' at the annual American Apparel and Footwear Association's Image Awards. |
