About Bjork Swan Dress
Icelandic singer, songwriter and composer, Bj'¶rk was born on November 21, 1965. Her forte in music includes folk, electronica, alternative rock, jazz, trip hop, pop, ambient music, and even classical music. She first gained attention when she was lead singer of the rock band, 'The Sugarbabes'. She soon branched out to establish a solo career. Her first English solo album titled 'Debut' was termed album of the year by NME, and achieved platinum status in the United States. Her follow up albums include 'Post' (1995), 'Homgenic' (1997), 'Vespertine' (2001), 'Med'ºlla' (2004). Bj'¶rk's ultimate head turning moment occurred when she wore a 'Swan Dress' to the 2001 Academy Awards at the Los Angeles Shrine Auditorium. The peculiar dress drew undulated attention from the press, fellow attendees and fans gathered outside the venue of the awards. Not only did the dress evoke surprise and implausible response, it also gained Bj'¶rk praise for her and extol. The dress was further remembered at the 2006 Academy Award when Jon Stewart joked 'Bj'¶rk couldn't be here tonight... she was trying on her Oscar dress and Dick Cheney shot her.' The dress was also mocked by the cartoon series 'Fairly Oddparents' and in the 2004 comedy flick 'White Chick'. Many critics claim Bj'¶rk's swan dress ensemble was her claim to fame others simply blame the incident on her non existent dress sense. All said and done, it was Bj'¶rk's swan dress episode that caused her to become a household name and she will always be associated with that 'Swan Dress'.
