New Balance
New Balance was started in the early 1900s by William J. Riley in Boston, Massachusetts. The young Englishman began the company with a dream of helping people who had problem feet, so he created arch supports and specialized footwear. New Balance remained an arch support company until 1961. By then it was under the ownership of Paul and Eleanor Kidd, and the couple manufactured the world's first running shoe available in multiple widths and with a ripple sole construction. The shoe was called the Trackster.
The Trackster quickly became a preferred running shoe choice among track coaches at colleges around the world. Ownership changed hands again in 1972 to Anne and Jim Davis, and New Balance became a world leader in the manufacturing of high performance footwear and apparel. One of the main aspects that have made the company's shoes so successful is that they have always prioritized making their shoes available in a wide range of widths and sizes.
The company also developed the New Balance Suspension System. This is a collection of technologies developed and utilized in the shoe design especially to meet the demands and needs of the athlete. It is integrated throughout all shoe products in the line in order to create a diverse range that will guarantee availability of the right shoe for all foot types and performance requirements.
Today, New Balance has a wide range of shoe product categories dedicated to enhancing the overall performance of athletes and anyone who desires a comfortable and perfect fit. The shoe categories include running, walking, cross-training, track and field, tennis, basketball, football, golf, cheer, Pro F.I.T. and kids. You can find a vast range of design selections developed with a large color palette. New Balance is still dedicated to style, comfort, fit and high performance footwear.
