For decades the maxim 'beauty is pain,' has been a self-evident truth, especially when it came to glamorous footwear. Since the invention of the high heel, women have had to make the choice between shoes that were beautiful and flattering to the leg, and those which didn't ultimately damage their feet. High fashion shoe designers seemed to believe that in order for their shoes to be gorgeous, they couldn't worry about whether or not they were comfortable. How ironic, of course, that being in pain actually makes someone feel and look older. Who can be gorgeous when they're wincing in pain with every step? Forget 'beauty is pain.' Pain is pain. And thanks to Taryn Rose, footwear designer, pain--from wearing shoes that are contraptions of torture--is over. Rose, a former orthopedic surgeon and lover of high-end footwear herself, became convinced that she could create a line of shoes that could comfort both the foot and the eye. Concentrating on construction which ergonomically supports the foot, including ample toe-boxes and secure heel fit, in 1998 she debuted her first series of luxury footwear. Today, her elegant designs are seen on red carpet runways and fashionable boulevards the world over. Each pair of Taryn Rose shoes is a work of art, receiving hours and hours of hand-made craftsmanship by master Italian cobblers. The materials are elegant and fine, including leather, silks, hand-dyed fabrics and metallics. The lines are flattering to the foot, the ankle, and the leg. And they're designed to impress, whether you're walking the dog, running the board-room, or standing on ceremony. Taryn Rose shoes are proof positive that beauty feels good. |
