American Girl Felicity is one in the series of dolls made by the American Girl company. It is a subsidiary of Mattel (established in 1945), who is primarily in the production of toys. The American girl doll is a series of dolls that have been made to have biographical characters from history. These dolls are created to have different characteristic traits that are designed to educate little girls about different historic times, costumes, and culture. Each doll is clothed to suit the biographical characteristic traits of a particular historic period. Felicity Merriman was the first doll that was introduced, in 1991 to the American Girls Collection after the initial launch of Kirsten, Samantha, and Molly series, in 1986. Felicity is a fictions girl character from the period of the American Revolution, living in Williamsburg, Virginia. She is a spunky, spirited girl who prefers to be outside and loves riding horses. She is the one who is caught between the patriotic and loyalist viewpoints of those times. Felicity doll was discontinued by the American Girl company, in 2002, including her accessories, outfits, and furniture, and she was relegated to online ordering only. However, it was re-launched in 2005 after severe criticism from Felicity doll fans and increased sales. Also, with the release of a movie named 'Felicity: An American Girl Adventure', created renewed interest in the doll. The company also reintroduced Felicity range of products, and some Felicity items were replaced with redesigned accessories. Felicity dolls are now available with the redesigned accessories including Colonial Undergarments, Shoes, Stockings & Garters, and School Outfit. |
