About Bumper Sticker

It's hard to know exactly who invented the bumper sticker, though some say it may have been Forest Gill, a Kansas City silkscreen printer, just before World War II. In any case, bumper stickers these days can be seen all over the road, and their messages range from the political to the hilarious. If you want to personalize you car, a bumper sticker is a great way to do it. With a bumper sticker, you can let the world know that you have an affinity for a particular cartoon character, or you have a zany sense of humor, or you have a child on the honor roll at school. Bumper stickers can also be an effective way to advertise, which is why they tend to be even more popular in presidential election years. Before World War II, bumper 'stickers' were not adhesive; instead, they were equipped with wires that attached to a car's metal bumper. The silkscreener Gill came up with the idea of using a type of adhesive instead, and bumper stickers became more popular during the 1940s and '50s. Removing a bumper sticker used to be a real chore, but now that there are products designed to make removing adhesive easier, the task has generally become less difficult. Beyond sticking them on the back of your car, bumper stickers can also make great collectors' items, and a large number of vintage or particularly interesting stickers could be an excellent way to decorate a bare wall.
