Winnie the Pooh, the renowned fictional teddy bear was created by Alan Alexander Milne, a British author. Milne wrote exciting adventure story books on 'Winnie the Pooh' and his friends. These stories were set in the Ashdown forests in East Sussex, England. In 1961, the film and other rights to the 'Winnie the Pooh' character were bought by Walt Disney. The cartoon film series based on 'Winnie the Pooh' was very successful. The popularity of this character has not diminished with the passage of time. Pooh's friends such as Piglet, and Tigger, have also became common household names. This loveable teddy bear has become one of the most successful franchises worldwide. Pooh stuffed toys, ceiling fans, bedding sets, videos, music, and other merchandise has fetched more than a billion dollars for Disney, which they claim is more than the sum of revenue generated from the franchises of Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck put together. The Winnie the Pooh lamp is still another popular franchise of this character. This product, such as most of the other franchises, is mostly meant to be used in children's nurseries. The parents usually select those lamps, which suit the furnishings, and other items placed in the nursery. The elegant bases of these lamps are generally well-carved, and hand-painted. There are beautiful graphics on the lampshades featuring Winnie the Pooh, and his merry friends. The Pooh lamps are known for their surrealistic glow and durability. This brilliant lighting creates a soothing and pleasing environment in the nursery. |
