First and foremost, most users immediately remark on the Latitude's screen styling. Compared to the earlier Latitude D-series models, the difference is night and day. (Sure, this isn't a creative use computer, but the speakers are surprisingly inadequate, even for basic applications.)The optical drive is not secured by a good system, and the computer warms up to high temperatures, even when it is running at a rather pedestrian 4,200 rotations per minute. Finally, critics complain that the D-600 chassis fails to deliver adequate protection from the environment.All told, reviews on the Dell D-600 Latitude are mixed. You may want to consider another Dell Latitude model, such as the D-610, D-510, or the X1 series. The good news is that Dell Latitudes, like Dell Inspiron laptops, can be reconfigured easily. Boost your RAM, and get the add-on warranty packages, particularly if you're buying in bulk for a company.
