If you're looking for a quality Sony laptop, consider the Sony VAIO VGN A690. This model is probably the most flexible and versatile in its class. Although it costs upwards of $3,000, the VAIO VGN A690 gives you everything you need to enjoy a profound multimedia experience. You get a de facto television, a DVD player, and lots of extra accessories. Overall, reviewers rank the Sony VGN A690 slightly higher than its in-class competitors. Plus, this VAIO is a relatively portable machine. Still, you may not want to lug this machine from a business meeting to the airport. If you're looking for a lighter, practical business purpose laptop, go with one of the midrange Sony VAIO models. Thanks to innovative engineering, the VAIO runs cool even though it runs fast. The keyboard feels firm and ergonomic, but the tiny mouse leaves something to be desired. Some competitors' laptops feature a better set up, in which users can turn off their touchpads and use their mice exclusively. That said, the VAIO A690 features a cool display with 1925 x 1200 pixel resolution--dazzling by any standard. Whether you watch TV on your Sony laptop, play video games, or simply surf the Internet, you won't be disappointed. The VAIO speakers pump out decent enough sound, but, unsurprisingly, you won't get much bass. The VAIO also sports a number of ports, including a PC card slot, microphone jacks, FireWire, and a decent modem. Unfortunately, this Sony laptop only offers one USB 2.0 port. |
