About Visual Basic

Visual Basic is a programming language developed as a prototype by Alan Cooper, who referred to it as Project Ruby. The Microsoft Corporation bought it, improved it, and renamed it as Visual Basic. It is designed to enable rapid development of user interface applications by using such features as drag and drop. Currently, more than half of all software developers use Visual Basic, making it the most popular programming language available. Part of this is due to support from Microsoft, with the remaining factor being the ease of understanding Visual Basic syntax. Visual Basic's position as the leading programming language may change in the coming years, however, as many software developers explore other available languages. It is possible to not only purchase Visual Basic software, but also one of the many books dedicated to helping others understand how to fully use the program. These books may be of particular interest to hobbyists who lack a degree in computer science, and who want to learn how to use programming languages. A quick search will locate hundreds of books targeted at both professionals and amateurs. Another inexpensive way to learn the tricks of Visual Basic is to invest in a computer tutorial. There are various simulations available which can help make navigating Visual Basic easier. Some are extremely interactive, while others utilize more traditional teaching methods. Many of these tutorials even combine interactive computer lessons with textbooks for a thorough look at Visual Basic.
