About Fisher Stereo

Avery Fisher founded the Fisher Radio Corporation, in the year 1945. He invented the first transistorized amplifier, and the first stereo radio-phonograph, in early 1950. Following these developments, Fisher earned fame and fortune that he utilized to establish his first company called the Philharmonic Radio. The company was later sold off to give way for his new company, Fisher Radio. A notable and formidable audio reproduction unit developed, and manufactured by Fisher Radio was the initial Fisher Stereo. It was the first of the Fisher radios to have AM and FM reception integrated into a single unit. It was launched in the market, in the year 1964. It was called the Fisher 500-C stereo receiver. It offered high-quality audio through multi-layered soundscape generation and faster startling frequency response. The stereo could generate pinpoint and holographic images with exceptional pace, rhythm, and drive in the undertones as well as higher octaves. The mechanism could also produce almost true-to-life high-fidelity sounds. The circuitry incorporated a fully functional control centre pre-amp that could produce 35 Watts of power. The Frequency Modulation or FM tuner unit had a stereo multiplex decoder that could tune into the faintest of signals. The frequency range of broadcast, the stereo could tune into is rated at 9 to 10 KHz for AM and maximum of 200 KHz for the FM band. The stereo had a solid-state full-wave rectifier in the front-end circuitry, and a half-wave rectifier for the B-voltage railing frequency band, for eliminating every tiny distortion of the carrier signal. The entire component package was assembled inside a brushed all-aluminum casing with an anodized soft platinum gold color finish; a distinctively classy look of the times.
