Ipaq

The iPAQ is a type of portable digital assistant, or PDA, developed by Compaq (a company that is now owned by Hewlett Packard), and released to the public in 1999. About the size of a small paperback book, with a sleek grey exterior and large color screen, the Ipaq has become a popular unit in the competitive PDAA market. Higher-end models provide capabilities such as card reading, wireless networking, and GPS. Personal Digital Assistants are basically hand-held computers. Their limited functions (limited, that is, compared to your average desktop or laptop models) include basic note-taking, address books, scheduling, the ability to play and store music clips, and the capacity to display downloaded pages of information. They come pre-installed with a variety of different software.PDAs like the iPAQ can be used to store and display anything from cooking recipes to movie schedules. Its memory is in the range of several hundred megabytes, and growing in capacity with each successive model that is developed. Recently released models even include the ability to access public Wi-Fi networks in areas such as libraries, cafes, or even parks. The iPAQ generally uses a familiar operating system based on Microsoft Windows. This allows users to easily access and manipulate data that they have previously stored or recorded. Innovative Bluetooth technology (featured in many other PDAs as well) allows individual iPAQs to connect to other consoles without wires. This feature can be incredibly handy for those people who frequently interact with other iPAQ users, such as businesspeople.
