American printing and imaging solutions company, Lexmark, is a spin-off from computer technology giant IBM Corporation's printer development and production division. The company specializes in manufacturing laser and inkjet printers, multifunction devices, and related consumption supplies. The company started its operations in the year 1991. The Lexmark E238 is a LaserJet printer introduced in October 2005. The E238 offers a maximum resolution of 1200 x 1200 dot per inch (dpi) in 1200 Image quality mode and 600 x 600 dpi in 2400 Image Quality mode. It can churn out 25 pages per minute (ppm) of Letter size and 24 pages of A4 size, in Black color. The printer takes 8 seconds of warm-up time before printing out the first page. The fast printout speed is supported by the internal processor running at 366 MHz. The printer can queue a high number of print commands or multiple print jobs in the built-in 16 MB of RAM. The RAM can be further expanded to a maximum of 80 MB depending on the type of printouts or job requirements. It has a maximum print cycle of 10,000 pages per month for prolonging printer life. It can be connected to a print server or a regular computer, using the ubiquitous USB or Parallel interface ports. It is natively supported by most versions of Windows and Macintosh computers. The Lexmark E238 supports major industry standard font types such as 3 scalable PCL 5e fonts in Narrow, Regular and Wide 12 scalable PCL fonts, 2 PCL bitmap fonts OCR-A, OCR-B scalable PCL 5e fonts, using default drivers. It has a paper tray capable of storing a total 400 sheets. The output tray can accommodate 150 sheets and the primary manual feed tray slot can store 250 sheets.
