The add-on card can be used with laptops or even with desktops having the PCMCIA interface built into the system. The card supports Quad-band GSM network standards including the frequencies 850/900/1800/1900 MHz. The card can connect to GSM, GPRS, and EDGE technology enabled networks. The EDGE technology version 1.2 supports high data transfer. The download or downlink speed is measured to be at 246.7 kbps and the upload or uplink speed to be at 123 kbps. The card can also connect to WiFi enabled networks as it supports the popular and now widely supported 802.11b and 802.11g standards.
