One of the fun aspects of building scrapbooks is the design layout of each of the pages inside. Your overall scrapbook page will have a particular theme you follow throughout the book, but each of your scrapbook pages can still be as decorative and unique as you want it to be. You should plan the layout first and perhaps take down a few notes or make sketches. Then you can begin to choose your embellishments and select the right tools and supplies you will need. Basic scrapbooking materials include the album, decorative paper, glue, scissors and journal pens. Some other tools and supplies are also recommended if you want to really embellish your scrapbook pages. Some of these include heating tools, die cut tools, shape cutters and scrapbooking instructional and idea books. The scrapbooking embellishments are up to you and they are often what really make your scrapbook pages stand out. Ribbons, glitter, borders and rubber stamps are just a few examples of scrapbook embellishments. Some may also enjoy adding stickers, buttons, patches, embroidered miniatures, quilt blocks and newspaper or magazine articles to their scrapbook pages. Your decorations should follow the theme or idea of each individual scrapbook page. The layout of your scrapbook pages should be determined by how you wish to place any photographs you will be using. Everything else should be placed around the photos. If you are new to scrapbooking, you may want to purchase a scrapbooking kit or Creative Memories scrapbook supplies. Some of them come with printed layouts on the pages to guide you the first time around. The main thing is to have fun, follow your instincts and allow yourself to be inspired. |
