Kipper The Dog
Kipper, the fictitious brown and white dog, is the main character in a series of children's books by Mick Inkpen. This laidback dog embarks on many adventures with his friends: Tiger, a schnauzer dog; Pig, a pig of course; Arnold, the Pig's cousin; and Jake, a large sheep dog. Kipper even has a favorite toy called Zebra that he takes along with him on all his endeavors. Tiger is Kipper's best friend. Though a little dominating and moody, he is, nevertheless, Kipper's steadfast companion in all his missions. Pig loves to eat and his favorite food is double chocolate cake loaded with lots of chocolate. Arnold is still a kid and cannot talk, yet. Targeted at toddlers and preschool age children, the books are colorful and illustrative. Kipper mirrors the inquisitive minds of children. The language of the book is easy to understand and conveys messages like friendship, team spirit, kindness and courtesy. The books have sold over 8 million copies and have been translated into around 20 languages. Now world-famous for his stories, Mick Inkpen is a winner of the Children's Book Award for 'Threadbear', and the British Book Award for best illustrated book, 'Lullabyhullabaloo'. Following the success of the books, HIT Entertainment animated this Kipper series, and the episodes are based on some of the books. The videos have won many awards, notable among them the BAFTA award for best children's animation. Martin Clunes narrates and provides the voice for the mischievous puppy.
