While David Chase is the creator, the Brad Grey Television and Chase Films of HBO are in charge of the production. The show maintains a unique style despite being strongly influenced by mafia films such as 'The Godfather' series. 'The Sopranos' explores the volatile relationships Tony has with the women in his life. It has enjoyed six seasons of tremendous success. The focus of this show is on various issues facing Tony Soprano, the mafia boss. He has to find a compromise between his responsibilities as mafia boss and those as the family head. The drama series has been given a rating for mature viewers only by HBO due to its content. James Gandolfini plays Tony Soprano, while his beleaguered wife Carmela is played by Edie Falco. They have won several Emmy awards between them for these roles. The DVD set is available for the third season as well. There are thirteen episodes on this DVD collection. In this season, Tony's shrink, Dr. Melfi, is physically assaulted and this experience has an adverse effect on her life. The relationship between Tony Soprano and Ralph Cifaretto also gets strained. In its third season, the show was nominated for an incredible 22 Emmy awards.
