Childrens FurnitureSelecting furniture for a kid's room is not child's play. With this in mind, many companies have started making furniture specifically designed for children. For instance, kid's dressers tend to have a wider base--which makes them sturdier--and are lower to the ground to prevent toppling accidents. The same care should be exercised when selecting a bed for your children. A kid's bed should be large enough for them to sleep comfortably, but not so big that they cannot get out of it by themselves. When asked, most kids preferred loft or bunk beds. However, bunk beds are not appropriate for all children's rooms. Whereas a bunk bed can be an excellent space-saving choice for older kids who have to share a room, they are not such a good idea for smaller children. As a general rule of thumb, only use bunk beds for children over six years of age. The good news is that children's furniture is available in a wide selection of styles and colors so that your child's room can be unified in design. You can choose from a wide variety of finishes, including cherry, pine, maple, oak, or even lacquered wood. Of course, unfinished furniture is always an option (if your little girl simply has to have pink furniture, for example). |
