Ice makers produce and store large quantities of ice cubes. This process takes less time compared to a freezer, and also since they are designed especially to make ice, these machines are more compact. Most ice makers include a drain pump system in which the mineral content is decreased and the ice formed is pure. Some ice maker manufactures such as Jenn Air include an electronic sensor which automatically stops and starts the ice production based on the amount of ice in the bin. This machine has the capacity to make and store up to 36 lbs. of ice. Another example of ice maker manufacturers is EdgeStar. Their portable ice makers are compact and simple with no extra add-ons. Simply plug it in, fill the bin with water, and within 10 minutes the first batch of ice cubes will be ready. In this model, a drain pump is not required as the ice that is not used is recycled to again make fresh and clean ice cubes. This ice maker can make and store up to 35 pounds of ice. Whirlpool also offers larger ice makers that can produce and store 50 pounds of ice. These machines also include a water pump, Clean Touch controls, and an easily accessible storage bin. Depending on the kitchen, the occasion, or the budget, ice makers are available in various designs and features. Portable ice makers are perfect for small get-togethers and home bars while larger ice makers are great for larger outdoor parties.
