Do you breed poultry, exotic birds, or reptiles? Do you need a dependable incubator for hatching bird eggs or caring for delicate baby animals? If so, you need to shop carefully. Incubators may be used for caring for bird or reptile eggs, and sometimes even baby birds or young reptiles as well. Depending on their quality of construction and materials used, incubating devices can vary greatly in quality and reliability. Styrofoam incubators are among the most inexpensive incubators on the market and are thus very popular. They can be found at many pet stores and bird and reptile specialty supply stores. Other incubators are made from solid, high-quality wood. Other Incubator Requirements Incubators should not only allow you to control the temperature, but also the humidity. Incubators actually work in tandem with monitoring equipment that detects and regulates the humidity and temperature of the atmosphere inside the incubator. Be advised that you will probably need more than one monitoring device to successfully control the incubating environment. With new incubators, it's recommended to let them run at the desired settings for at least a week or two before adding eggs. This gives a new incubator enough time to stabilize so you won't be taking chances with the eggs. |
