Many people consider leather couches to be the ultimate expression of the form. Indeed, leather couches are often considered symbols of wealth and prosperity, much more so than velvet humpbacks or linen sectionals. For many, a leather couch is a timeless classic guaranteed to offer its owners comfort and style for years to come. One of the many pluses of a leather couch is the unusual way the material wears over time. Whereas couches upholstered with fabric tend to fray, stain, or fade as time passes, couches built from high-quality leather become more comfortable and better looking. When a couch is built from really good leather, it becomes deliciously soft with wear. ('Soft as a leather glove' is a popular descriptor.) The color of the leather should also become deeper and richer with use. Another plus associated with leather couches is their durable nature. Leather is far simpler to maintain than most fabrics as it doesn't stain or rip easily. It is, however, prone to scratching (depending on the quality and finish of the leather) though many feel this worn-in look is more appealing than the flawless finish of a brand-new leather couch. Leather couches comes in a wide variety of styles. Some prefer the sleek lines and minimalist sensibilities of modern leather couches, while others like the look of more traditional, ornate designs. The key is to select a leather couch that will blend in nicely with the given room's decor. |
