Come summer, and its time to shop for new patio furniture sets. Patio sets, traditionally, comprises of a table and four chairs. These days, there are a variety of options, to choose from'love seats and chaises, bar stools and bar carts, and side tables and ottomans. Patio sets are available in different a range of materials'wood, aluminum, wrought iron and wicker. Each material has its own pros and cons, and the material to be chosen is solely a personal prerogative. Patio sets made from aluminum are the most popular in the market today; thanks to the rust-proof nature of the metal. Some patio sets are built on hollow tubular aluminum, while some are made out of solid cast aluminum. The latter, lasts longer and is costlier than the former. Wrought iron furniture is less expensive than aluminum. However, they are most likely to rust and therefore need to be regularly treated with rust-proof coats. You could also opt for wrought iron furniture, with a textured finish. Wicker sets are not meant for open, outdoor porches; they are strictly meant for enclosed porches. However, patio sets manufactured from 'all-weather' wicker (the synthetic look alike of wicker), can be placed outdoors. The other category of furniture is wood; of which teak is the most durable. Teak furniture can be subject to all sorts of weather and yet can last for more than 20 years; with absolutely no maintenance required. However, teak furniture is very heavy and expensive also the most expensive form of wood. |
