A queen duvet cover is just a pillowcase for your duvet, or down comforter. They help add years to the life of your comforter and can provide an easy way to redecorate your bedroom. Some covers are a simple cotton fabric, while other, more decorative options can be quilted, embroidered, lace, silk, satin, or suede. For people who are allergic to down, duvet covers can also provide an ideal barrier between you and the feathers of the comforter. For the most hypoallergenic environment, choose a comforter with a tightly woven exterior and a queen duvet cover made similarly. Duvet covers are open on one end, allowing them to easily be removed and laundered. A machine washable cover is ideal, as they can be quickly cared for and will wear well over time. There are a variety of closures, including Velcro, buttons, and zippers. Choosing a closure that fits your preference is the best idea, given that no one closure is best for everyone. Visually, you have to decide what looks best as well, as button closures often allow a bit of the comforter inside to peek through the end of the cover. Duvet covers can also give old cotton or polyester fill comforters a new look. Simply slide the old comforter inside of a new duvet cover, and you've got a whole new look for much less than it would cost to buy a new one. Some people even stick two or three blankets inside duvet covers during the colder months to really ensure a warm bed. |
