Andreas Stihl founded STIHL in 1926, at Stuggart, Germany, and began with the manufacture of washing machines and fore hearth plants. The first chainsaw built by STIHL weighed nearly 48 kgs and was a two-man saw with a power output of 2.2 KW. In 1929, Andreas Stihl came out with a chainsaw that ran on petrol. Since then, the company has come a long way and now offers a wide range of products that include trimmers, blowers, cut-off machines, saw chains, brush cutters and, of course, the chainsaw. Today, the company manufactures different models of chainsaws with a variety of features. However, all the chainsaws share some common features such as a smooth design and no rough edges. They have a dual braking system that helps avoid injuries. The inboard chain brake ensures durability and less maintenance. The bumper spikes help the operator have better control, while the anti-vibrator device lessens the machine user's fatigue. The front handle is properly covered for providing proper grip. The Spark Arrestor Muffler helps reduce the noise emitted by the machine, which is also equipped with functions such automatic chain oiling as well as tool-less fuel and an oil cap. The electronic ignition helps in faster and smoother functioning of the machine. STIHL has been around for over 75 years. The company has offices all over the world, namely in countries such as Switzerland, Brazil, the United States, and Germany. Its products are sold and serviced in over 130 countries by more than 30,000 dealers. STIHL chainsaws are mostly used by construction workers, fire departments, professional loggers, and also home owners. |
