About Wool Rug

Investing in a high-quality wool rug--made from real woven materials--can add tremendous beauty to your home. However, most natural wool runners and rugs require significant care and maintenance. A wool rug without stain guard protection, in particular, can quickly disintegrate from a fine looking piece into a dirty, rag-like cloth.A standard carpeting cleaner should be enough to clean the standard wool area rug. First, apply the cleaner, and then bear down on any stains with a hard bristle brush. Next, rinse the area rug with warm water and then put the rug in the dryer. Be sure to check the manufacturer's label, however--some wool rugs should always be hand washed and hand dried.Carpet stains which get on wool rugs run the gamut from acids and chewing gum to gravy and cosmetics. You can use a vinegar detergent admixture to soften up the following stains: blood, beer, acids, fruit juices, furniture polish, ice cream, and even common caulking cement. Other stains, such as ballpoint pen ink, coffee, and glue may require more unconventional stain removing methods such as turpentine, glycerin, and alcohol (respectively). Is it cost-effective to 're-stage' or repair well worn rugs? Rug repair costs can run from $50 to $1,000 (on the low scale) to tens of thousands of dollars for high end restorations. Disturbed hand-woven rugs may be irreplaceable. The best materials tend to be the hardest ones to repair, since maintenance requires delicate handiwork and a well-trained eye.
