Jerome Baker Designs, or JBD, has launched a new enterprise called Jerome Baker Decks. These are special sculptures done on glass as well as mixed media. Established by Jason Harris in 1995, the world-famous glass company is involved in the manufacture of skateboard decks, clothing, and gear of good quality. JBD has been involved in arts and designing for a very long time; the company's style of work is unique and in great demand. Most of JBD's glass creations are done by sculpting, forming, and shaping the hot liquid glass by using special instruments for the designs. Sometimes, even ordinary articles such as spoons and knives are used. After the sculpted molten mass has cooled gradually in a kiln, it is treated with various chemicals that impart a rough look to the surface. Sandblasting is then done, and the glass is cut and subjected to a range of abrasive tools to give it a rough finish. The artist opened a glass studio after receiving the BFA from the University of Oregon in 1995. He took glass blowing training at the Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. After a three-year break, in 2004, Jason Harris revamped the company into a Skate and Fashion company, which is based at Eugene, Oregon. He has six new decks with the bomb graphics done by excellent illustrators. Jerome Baker designs are found on casual T-Shirts, hats, beanies and on quality stickers. Many celebrities have commissioned Jason Harris to make articles for their businesses and homes.
