The Swiss-made Omega Seamaster is widely recognized as one of the finest sports watches in the world. There are several Seamaster models available, each of which is designed to meet very specific diving or dress needs. Two of the most popular Seamaster lines are the Professional, designed for those who spend serious amounts of time on or under the water, and the Aqua Terra line, which features Omega's Co-axial Chronometer movement. Professional Seamaster watches are water resistant to 300 meters/1,000 feet below depth. They feature dials which are large and easy to read underwater. Models which come with metal bracelets feature expansion capabilities that allow them to fit over wetsuits. And, for the most serious of divers, the Professional also has a helium relief valve for long-term use in diving bell environments. Seamasters are made with a wide variety of materials. The classically minded may prefer the traditional gold or sterling Seamaster. However, for those to whom weight is a concern, Titanium versions weigh considerably less, and wearing them with straps made from rubber, shark, or another leather (versus a metal bracelet) can make them even lighter. Typical advantages cited for the Omega Seamaster include its rugged and reliable design. Many fans appreciate that the Seamaster is highly fashionable, but doesn't look like the over-copied Rolex and Tag Heuer sports watches. Further, the Seamaster is praised for exceeding accuracy standards for its class, while costing about half of its Rolex equivalent. Of course, there's always the little perk that the Seamaster is James Bond's watch of choice. |
