Swarovski

The foundation of the Swarovski Company was laid towards the end the 19th century by a Bohemian visionary Daniel Swarovski. Daniel, as a young boy, often watched and worked with his father in his small factory of glass and crystal. After visiting an Electrical exhibition, he came up with the brainstorm of developing a machine to cut crystal. Nine year down the line, he received patent for his machine that improved the perfection of cutting crystal drastically. This led to the birth of the Swarovski Company by Daniel, alongwith his brother-in-law Franz Weis and Armand Kosmann in 1895. The Company launched a range of exclusive items designed by leading Italian designers in 1989 that consisted of accessories, handbags, jewels and belts. By 1913, Swarovski started the production of its own 'flawless' crystal and gradually the company became renowned for its jewelry stones. The original Swarovski logo of an edelweiss flower was replaced by a swan logo that is used till today. Since its inception, Swarovski has extended its tentacles into various productions such as crystal grinding and dressing tools under the brand name Tyrolit, decorative stones made from crystal under Signity, reflective glass elements under Swareflex, crystal set fabric under Crystal Fabric, watches under Crystal Time and many more. Swarovski crystal beads are used to embellish dresses, shoes and handbags. In addition, the company has a range of bathroom d'©cor and home accessory collection. In 2003, as a mark for its 100th anniversary in 1995, Swarovski created Crystal Worlds which is an exhibition hall. In 2005, a book Daniel Swarovski- A World of Beauty was released to pay tribute to Daniel's vision and creativity.
