The Audi TT is a sports car manufactured by German automobile manufacturer, Audi. The Audi TT first debuted in 1995 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The credit for its design goes to J Mays and Freeman Thomas. TT is the abbreviation for 'Tourist Trophy', which is an annual road race on the Isle of Man. The design of the Audi TT was regarded as revolutionary, innovative, and bold. Some of the distinct features in the TT were its rounded bodywork, lack of defined bumper, use of bare aluminum, etc. The car was much known for its design in the market. The TT has seen two generations by now. The model was launched as a coupe that featured 1.8L turbocharged in-line four-cylinder engine with 20-valve. In 2001, the sports coupe was only available in a Quattro drive producing 225 PS. It had the same engine with a larger turbocharger and an intercooler on the driver's side. The more improved version of the Audi TT are also known as 'Quattro Sport' models, which could reach the highest speed of 250 km/h. The second generation of the Audi TT started in August 2004. It was announced that TT would be made in aluminum and go into production in 2007. The new concept of the Audi Shooting Brake was introduced for this model at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005. The Audi TT, released on April 4, 2006, is constructed of aluminum in the front and steel at the rear. The car comes with an option of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
