About Bowling

Bowling commonly refers to the game in which a triangular group of ten pins have to be felled, however it also includes in its scope similar games as ninepins and duckpins, or even lawn bowling. The term bowling also refers to the actual act of rolling the ball. Professional and amateur players are frequent at bowling alleys worldwide, either playing it competitively or leisurely. Although the game is presumed to have originated in ancient Egypt, or medieval Germany, the first written record of bowling was in the fourteenth century, when King Edward III, the English King, banned his troops from playing it. The game was exported to the United States by the early European settlers. On September 9, 1895, the first standardized rules were framed in New York City that led to the establishment of the American Bowling Congress (ABC), later that year. The Women's International Bowling Congress (WIBC), the ladies' equivalent association was formed, in 1917. Automatic pinsetters that speed up the game have been introduced, since 1952. The bowling alley on which the ball is rolled is usually made of wood, and is sometimes referred to as bowling centre or green. The colorful and attractive bowling balls used I bowling are made up of materials such as rubber, plastic, etc. Generally, there are three finger holes on these balls for grip; however some rules even permit up to five holes. Bowling pins are made of hard wood, coated with a plastic material, and painted, before being given a glossy finish. Big bowling machines are also available in sets along with the pins and balls needed for this game. Apparels and shoes for Bowling, are available in all shapes, sizes, and colors.
