About Challenger

The Dodge Challenger has three different automobiles sold under the same label and manufactured by Dodge, a division of Chrysler Corporation, since the 1970s. The first model of the Dodge Challenger was manufactured between 1970 and 1974. It was an entrance of Dodge into the pony-car market. This sturdy car had a broad wheelbase of 51mm and a different sheetmetal exterior. The Dodge Challenger was designed by Carl 'Cam' Cameron. There was a wide choice in terms of engines given to the purchaser of the Dodge Challenger. The engine option included 3.7 L slant 6 engine, 5.2L LA V8 engine, 5.9 L LA V8 engine, 6.3 L B V8 engine, etc. The performance of the car depended on the size of the engine. The most desired engines were 440 cu. in. and the 426 cu. in Hemi engine. The car was available in both the convertible and the hardtop coupe versions. The second model was revived in 1978. This was a 2-door coupe with 1.6 L 4G 32 I4 engines that was initially installed in the car. However, more importance was given to the exterior of the coupe, which was sportier with bright colors and tape stripes. The car had the frameless hardtop styling like its predecessor but was only available with a 4-cylinder engine. However, the other engine option that was available in the second model of the Challenger was 2.6 L 4G 54 I4 engine. The third model is to be retrieved in 2008 as announced by Dodge. The Challenger 2008 was introduced at the 2006 North American International Auto Show. The basic design is with shortened LX platform and is installed with a V8 6.1L Hemi engine that is coupled with the manual transmission. However, the engine is expected to be upgraded to 6.4L Hemi V8 engine when it is actually produced.
