Dakota
Dakota is a mid-sized pick-up truck manufactured by Daimler Chrysler's Dodge brand, which is headquartered in Stuttgart, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, and Auburn Hills, Michigan, United States. Dodge is the brand name of Daimler Chrysler's that produces automobiles including light to heavy-duty trucks.
The first generation Dakota pickup truck was introduced in 1987, alongside the Dodge Ram 50, and was produced till 1996. It featured a body-on-frame design with a leaf spring rear end. It was powered by a straight-4 or a V6 engine with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. It was the first to use the unique rack and pinion steering system in work trucks. The second generation Dakota was produced from 1997 to 2004. It was more a less incorporated the same internal configuration with the addition of the 5.9 L 250 HP in the new R/T model, in 1998. Later, the smaller V8 engine was replaced with a new high-tech V8 engine.
