Deville

The name DeVille has been utilized by many series of Cadillac's luxury car models. It was the flagship sedan for the Cadillac division of General Motors. This car had a long run, however it was finally replaced by DTS for the 2006 model. The DeVille was first introduced in 1994 and was called Coupe DeVille; however it wasn't until 1965 till DeVille acquired the flagship model status. The engines and the design used on the DeVille varied from year to year from one level to another. From 1996 trough 1999, a 4.6-liter L37 Northstar V8 engine that was capable of producing 300 horsepower was used. The 2000 model was the last major redesign of the Deville and was the start of the last Deville generation. DeVille was given a sporty makeover by Cadillac than any other generations. Along with the exterior, interior changes were also changed, which included new seats, a refreshed dashboard, new radio, and new door panels. The 2005 model was known as the last generation of the Deville, it was simply the name that changed on this popular Cadillac vehicle. Starting in the 2006 model year, the Deville became known as the Cadillac DTS, which is an acronym for Deville Touring Sedan. DeVilles are popular for their use of limousine and features leading-edge automotive technology. It was one of the initial cars to feature airbags, night-vision technology, XM Satellite Radio, OnStar roadside assistance, etc. DeVille's Raytheon night vision system was the first thermal imaging night vision system offered as original equipment by Cadillac. The model was launched in 2000 and sold over 7000 models.
