Anybody who was a child in the 1990s will remember the "Tickle Me Elmo" toy. The demand for this plush doll led parents to searching store after store in order to get hold of this cuddly Sesame Street character for Christmas. "Tickle Me Elmo" would laugh every time he was squeezed. If he was squeezed three times in a row, Elmo would laugh hysterically and begin to shake. The recommended retail price for this toy was only $29, but it was found in classified advertisements for over $1,000 as budding entrepreneurs found a way to make some quick money. The cuddly toy was released again as "LOL Elmo" in 2012. This new version is very similar to the original Elmo, but it tells jokes and comes with a fish bowl. The character first appeared in Sesame Street in the 1970s, and he soon became popular and has appeared on numerous chat shows on television. In 1999, he starred in a film called "The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland." This fun movie was released on DVD and even now makes an ideal gift for young fans of the red toy. The feature film was not the only DVD that Elmo has appeared in. He also stars in Elmo's Potty Time, which teaches young children how to use the toilet for the first time, and Elmo's World - Wake Up With Elmo, which shows children the importance of getting enough sleep. The character has been used in a range of products for both children and adults. Children can sleep soundly in their Elmo themed pajamas, while adults can attend costume parties as a fully grown Elmo character.
