About Finding Nemo

Pixar Animation Studios produced, an Academy Award-winning computer-animated film, 'Finding Nemo' that was released by Walt Disney Pictures and Buena Vista Distribution on May 30, 2003. The plot revolves around a widower clown fish named Marlin who lives in the Great Barrier Reef, Australia. Marlin's only son Nemo is abducted by a scuba diver and soon finds himself in a tropical aquarium located in a dentist's office at Sydney harbor. Marlin then sets out on a journey to find his son. Through out the journey Marlin encounters a variety of species of marine life and embarks on many adventures. On the journey Marlin befriends a blue tang named Dory who suffers from short term memory loss. While Marlin is on a quest to find Nemo, Nemo himself gets involved in a plot with the other fish in the aquarium to escape from it and live a life of freedom. The film was released on DVD on November 4, 2003, currently it is one of the highest selling DVD of all time with over 22 million copies sold. Finding Nemo also claimed the record for attaining the highest grossing opening weekend, animated feature film. The animated flick also picked up numerous awards such as the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film and the Saturn Awards for Best Animated Film. The film was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Screenplay and the Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Ellen Degeneres, who voiced Dory, won the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards for Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie. Apart from DVD sales, Finding Nemo makes money of merchandize sales as well.
